As a Certified Nutritional Practitioner and Lifestyle Coach, my vision is to guide you towards healthy lifestyle practices, with the final goal of correcting imbalances and achieving optimal physical, mental and emotional health.
Welcome to my site! Thank you for visiting!
I am a Holistic Health Practitioner, Nutritionist and Mindfulness Meditation Instructor specializing in stress reduction and coping strategies, nutritional therapies for mental health and brain longevity and mood disorders including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, addiction, eating disorders, ADD/ADHD.
Combining two major interventions – nutrition + meditation or ‘what we put in our body and what we put in our mind’ – my approach is informed by the latest research on orthomolecular nutrition, affective neuroscience and mindfulness meditation, as well as mind/body medicine – specifically the ways in which mental, emotional, environmental, social, and spiritual factors come together to affect someone’s health. Simply put, this means that I look beneath the surface of symptoms to find the more fundamental causes for the conditions I see.
More about me and my training….
I have always had an unwavering passion for connecting with and helping people, from my beginnings as a teacher, throughout my corporate career and ultimately as a Holistic Health Practitioner and Meditation Instructor in my private practice.
Knowing that deep in my heart I remained a ‘teacher’, in 2009 I became a student of natural health modalities and graduated with First-Class Honours from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition with a Diploma in Applied Holistic Nutrition. Later I earned the professional designation of Registered Orthomolecular Holistic Practitioner (ROHP) and completed certification courses in Clinical Detoxification and Bio-therapeutic Drainage.
To better serve my clients and expand my repertoire of modalities, the same year I trained to become a Certified Live Blood Cell Analyst and have since performed thousands of analyses using a specialized Olympus Darkfield microscope.
My long-time interest in human psychology, neuroscience and psycho-somatic medicine led me to pursue additional studies in Nutritional Psychology, Trauma, Mental Health, Mindfulness Meditation and their applications to the work I was already doing.
Before long, I added Reiki to the mix and started to address underlying imbalances in people dealing with challenging life situations and those suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress. The results I saw were amazing!
In addition to nutritional interventions and sometimes even prior to that, I now use mindfulness-based techniques to help my clients better cope with the stresses in their lives. I also teach Mindfulness Meditation to adults and adolescents, individuals, small groups and large organizations.
At University of Toronto, I had the privilege and great honour to study under the brilliant guidance of Michele Chaban, MSW, Ph.D, herself mentored by H.H.The Dalai Lama, and Director of Applied Mindfulness Meditation Certificate Program at Factor-Inwentash School of Social Work. Michele has had a 30 year career in end-of-life care, using mindfulness meditation at the bedside of her clients, helping their families to embrace compassion, resiliency, and attend to suffering.
My academic training in mindfulness includes:
- Applied Mindfulness Meditation Specialist Certificate Program (University of Toronto)
- Mindfulness Ambassador Council Program Facilitator (Mindfulness Without Borders)
- Learning to Breathe Program Facilitator (Penn State University, USA)
- MBSR (UMass Medical Center, USA)
- Mindfulness Fundamentals (Mindful Schools, Australia)
My personal mindfulness practice has been inspired and deepened by the work of great teachers such as Pema Chodron, Jack Kornfield, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Thich Nhat Hanh, Tara Brach, Paul Gilbert, Sharon Salzberg, Saki Santorelli, J. Krishnamurti, Eckhart Tolle, Joseph Goldstein, Adyashanti, S.N. Goenka and visionary mindfulness researchers like Dan Siegel, Rick Hanson, Mark Epstein, Zindel Segal, Mark Williams, John Teasdale, Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer.
Integrating all these modalities has not been an easy task, but my deep wish to help people and reduce suffering provided the ground and the motivation for this work. As a matter of fact, my success with stress conditions, burnout and depression comes from personal experience. I’ve been there and I know what it’s like.
And so, navigating the ever changing waves of life, I have been building my practice with patience, optimism and resilience, faithfully upholding both my vision of living meaningfully by being of service to others and my dedication to my clients’ health and well being.
Over the years, I have enjoyed the inspiring presence of many wonderful teachers, mentors, friends, clients and peers and I have drawn on the wisdom of many authentic and dedicated beings. I thank you all! Together we built a community of kind and compassionate health enthusiasts, a healing space where everyone is welcomed and no one is judged.
I invite YOU to join us now.
Health Flow Wellness offers personal consultations and assessments of nutrition and lifestyle to individuals as well as providing group counselling and workshops/ seminars to progressive-thinking organizations.
We operate under the premise that prevention is the key to optimal healthy living. In a society where stress has become second nature, it is difficult (not to say more expensive) to always make the right choices. Coming from the corporate world myself, I am aware of the hectic schedules, deadlines and long hours forcing most of us to make unwise food choices. Therefore, we developed solutions and easy to apply strategies to help our clients succeed in achieving their health goals.
